THEY DO NOT KNOW
HARLEM

written and choreographed by Tristan André Parks

They Do Not Know Harlem is a homecoming and clarion call that explores the life and legacy of “God’s revolutionary mouth” and talisman, James Baldwin. Baldwin’s life story invokes the story of Tristan Andre’s - a Black, Southern, and queer story of self-discovery, self-love and affirmation. Through song, text and choreography, the play invites us to traverse ideas of ‘home’ within ourselves by excavating America’s rich,  painful, and nuanced past whilst offering us to write a new story for and in support of the lives of Black, queer, and indigenous voices around the globe.
